An Armenian Among Crew Members Captured by Pirates on January 2
On January 2, an Armenian was among the crew members of the MSC Mandу container ship captured by pirates in the Gulf of Guinea, near the shores of Benin. This was reported by riafan.ru.
"The captives include Captain Andrey Ivanov, Chief Mate Andrey Svitin, Third Mate Alexander Simonov, Bosun Igor Teleshin, Welder Roman Ivanov, and Cook Andronik Grigoryan," the publication noted.
It is recalled that on the night of January 2, armed pirates boarded the MSC Mandу ship, which sails under the flag of Panama. They robbed the crew and took six members captive, while the remaining 20 crew members were able to escape and are now in a safe location.
Following the attack, the pirates entered Nigerian territorial waters.
