Vardenyats Pass Closed: Current Situation on Roadways

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reports that as of January 8 at 09:00, there are difficult road conditions across the country.

The Vardenyats Pass is closed.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is impassable.

The Sisian-Zanger roadway has black ice conditions.

In the Shirak region, snow is falling in the city of Gyumri, as well as in the village of Ashotzk and the region of Amasia.

Drivers are advised to travel in regions exclusively with winter tires.

According to information from the Department of Roads of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open only for light passenger vehicles.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in North Ossetia, there are 99 vehicles backed up on the Russian side.
