Police Accompanied the Conscripts' Bus: Clarification
The Police of Armenia issued a statement today regarding a video circulated in the media that shows a group of young people stopping a bus transporting conscripts and initiating a scuffle.
“After the publication of the video, some users on social networks hastily blamed the police for not escorting the bus with a police detachment,” the statement reads.
According to the decision No. 1337-N of the Government of Armenia dated October 29, 2018, the police must accompany groups of conscripts from the military commissariat in Yerevan to the national assembly point, and in the regions, up to the end of the urban line.
The bus transporting conscripts from the Kotayk region was properly escorted to the end of the settlement, meaning that according to the order, the police could no longer continue their escort to the assembly point,” the statement further elaborated.
The Police of Armenia also informed that materials are being prepared regarding the incident at the Military Police, and immediately after the publication of the video, the police have been cooperating with their Military Police counterparts to identify and locate those involved in the incident.
