Explosion at a Church in Athens

In the center of Athens, in the Kolonaki district, an explosive device was detonated near the Church of Saint Dionysius. This was reported by 'Sputnik Greece'.

Initial reports indicate that a police officer sustained minor injuries to his hands and head and has been hospitalized. In addition to the officer, the church's caretaker was also injured. He had noticed a suspicious item and called the police. As soon as the officer approached, the bomb detonated.

According to eyewitness accounts, the explosion knocked over parked motorcycles and the blast wave threw rubbish bins aside.
