The Number of Tourists Visiting Armenia This Year Increased by 8.8 Percent
The number of incoming tourist visits to Armenia through the Republic's border crossing points increased by 8.8 percent during the period from January to September 2018. This was announced today by Hripsime Grigoryan, the head of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments, in a conversation with journalists.
Ms. Grigoryan stated that if in 2017, 1,172,402 visitors came to Armenia, in 2018, the number rose to 1,275,209.
“Of these tourists, 525,423 visited Armenia from the Russian Federation,” she said.
According to her, Georgia ranks second in the number of incoming tourists, with 233,125 visitors arriving from there. “Iran is in third place with 132,839 visitors, followed by the USA with 46,138 visitors, and Ukraine in fifth place with 24,308 visitors. The countries that saw a sharp increase in visitors from January to September 2018 are India, China and Kazakhstan, with respective increases of 131, 107, and 83 percent.”
