Health Ministry Urges Passengers of Moscow-Yerevan Flight to Consult a Doctor

The head of Armenia's national vaccination program, Gayane Sahakyan, has informed the public through a Facebook post about the presence of measles in the country, while urging a specific group of people to seek medical advice.

"Passengers of flight 4377 from Moscow to Yerevan on December 21 are considered close contacts, and if they are not vaccinated against measles, it is highly likely that they are infected. To prevent the further spread of the virus, we encourage them to contact their local health facility or call (010) 550601," she wrote.

It is noted that a laboratory-confirmed imported case of measles was recorded in Armenia on December 24. The patient had arrived from Russia and already exhibited clinical symptoms.

The Health Ministry's information and public relations department states that measles is a serious viral, highly contagious disease characterized by pronounced intoxication, catarrhal, and rash phenomena. The virus is transmitted via airborne droplets. Measles differs from other controllable infectious diseases due to its high contagion rate.
