Director of Artsakh Telecom Mocking the People of Artsakh: Open Letter to Bako Sahakyan

As a hero of the Artsakh war, Karen Madunts's wife, Susanna Madunts, has addressed an open letter to the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Bako Sahakyan, stating: "The General Director of Artsakh Telecom, K. Odabashyan, is mocking the people of Artsakh with expensive tariff plans and low-quality, yet overpriced internet service. Now, with his decisions, he is humiliating his esteemed employees. A question arises for me and my fellow countrymen: on what basis is it allowed for a person, who has arrived from Canada and has no ties to Artsakh, to issue himself a salary of several million drams while laying off specialists, widows, and destitute workers, leaving them without a crust of bread?"

Below is the full text of Mrs. Madunts's letter:

"Dear Mr. President Bako Sahakyan,
I am the wife of Artsakh war hero Karen Madunts. From the very beginning of the hostilities, my husband and I have been in the frontline. Neither my husband nor I, who was 19 at the time and awaiting a child, ever thought of fleeing from the war or relocating to another country.
However, today circumstances have unfolded in such a way that we are forced to leave our land, hoping to find work in another city, since the General Director of Artsakh Telecom, K. Odabashyan, has put Karen Madunts in the position of choosing: either resign from his position or dismiss his chief engineer and chief accountant. To avoid putting the latter at risk, Karen submitted his resignation.
Karen Madunts, born in the city of Hadrut, has participated in the liberation movement since 1990. In 1992, he was appointed head of communications for the first defense zone.
From 1996 to 1997, he was the commander of a motorized infantry battalion.
From 1997 to 2000, he served as the head of communications for the motorized infantry brigade.
From 2000 to 2002, he was the director of the Hadrut branch of 'Artsakh Telecom'.
Since 2002, he has been the director of the Hadrut branch of 'Artsakh Telecom'.
Karen's work experience in the telecommunications system spans 30 years, starting from 1988.
In 1995, he was awarded the 'Combat Cross' of the 1st degree.
In 2017, he received the Honorary Medal from the Prime Minister of Artsakh.
My husband has honorably and valiantly fulfilled his military and civil duty to his homeland, defending it without sparing his strength and health. Yet today, he is forced to leave his homeland in order to provide for his family. And this is happening due to the shameless decision of K. Odabashyan, the General Director of Artsakh Telecom, for whom Artsakh is merely a business domain. He is already mocking the people of Artsakh with expensive tariff plans and poor-quality, yet expensive internet service, and now with his decisions, is humiliating his esteemed employees. A question arises for me and my fellow countrymen: on what basis is it allowed for a person, who has arrived from Canada, has no ties to Artsakh, and issues himself a salary of several million drams, to lay off specialists, widows, and destitute workers, leaving them without a crust of bread?"
Thank you."

Aurora News has forwarded the open letter to the spokesperson for the President of Artsakh, David Babayan. In a conversation with us, Babayan noted that the letter has been acknowledged and a response will come later, as it requires examination by various departments.
