Javakhk Armenians to Get Their Passports Back
Today, just hours from now, the passports of Javakhk Armenians will be returned in Armenia. This is reported by Armtimes.com.
Since November, young people under the age of 27 who received dual citizenship found themselves in Armenia, facing a stark choice: either enlist in the Armenian army or face five years of imprisonment. On December 14, they held a brief protest at the Ninozminda-Bavra border checkpoint.
Andranik Garslyan, a resident of Javakhk, told 'Haykakan Zhamanak' that they met with Armenian Police Chief Valeri Osipyan, having a constructive discussion. 'Valeri Osipyan presented the issue to Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and it seems the problem is being resolved. This is the result of our protest,' he stated.
