Karо Yeghnukyan to Sue Valery Osipyan

Member of the "Founding Parliament" and involved in the "Sasna Tsrer" case, Karо Yeghnukyan has announced his intention to file a civil lawsuit against the current Police Chief Valery Osipyan, claiming 12,000 dram. Yeghnukyan made this statement during a press conference today.

Recalling the events of December 2015, he noted that the claim concerns an incident when he attempted to set up a Christmas tree in Republic Square. At that time, Osipyan, who served as the Deputy Police Chief of Yerevan, personally seized and damaged the Christmas tree.

According to Yeghnukyan, his cardboard staff, used for impersonating Santa Claus, was also broken during that incident.

Yeghnukyan emphasized that the total value of the damaged Christmas tree and staff is 12,000 dram, and they were destroyed illegally. He is now demanding compensation directly from Osipyan.

He pointed out that the issue is not just about getting money back, but rather bringing the current police chief to the realization that he is obligated to respect people's rights.
