Dietary Recommendations for Children During Holidays
Experts recommend that during holidays, parents should not change their children's regular dietary habits. This was stated in a message distributed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, which we present below.
"It is advisable for the child to continue eating as usual—having their daily meals at their regular times. Of course, it is fine to offer the child something from the holiday table, but this should be done with caution to avoid any issues from 'unfamiliar' foods.
The majority of children love carbonated drinks and sweet juices, but as is well known, these are not very beneficial for health; therefore, children should not be allowed to drink too much lemonade and other juices.
It is important to be cautious when children consume fresh food at someone else's house. If a child is going to eat fruit, make sure that it is clean. Extra attention should be paid when buying food on the street, especially regarding where and how the food was prepared, whether the staff are wearing gloves or appropriate uniforms, whether the kitchen is clean, and whether the food is fresh.
Children should be taught to wash their hands both before and after eating. It is crucial to remember how many infections are transmitted through unwashed hands. If you don't have water with you, at least use a wet napkin."
