Citizens of Etchmiadzin Hold Protest Against Manvel Grigoryan's Release

Citizens of Etchmiadzin are once again holding a protest against the release of Manvel Grigoryan.

One of the organizers, Jivan Grigoryan, called on the residents of Etchmiadzin via a live Facebook broadcast last night to gather at the Etchmiadzin square on December 23 at 11:00 AM.

“We are not stopping our actions; our struggle is not over. We will no longer block streets, but we will hold rallies. Our fight for legality will begin from Etchmiadzin. General Manvel is a prototype, such phenomena must not be repeated, and we will continue our struggle until we reach our ultimate goal,” stated J. Grigoryan.

It is worth reminding that since December 21, protests against the decision to release General-Lieutenant Manvel Grigoryan on bail have been taking place in the Armavir region. Participants in the protests have blocked not only the streets of the city of Etchmiadzin but also the Yerevan-Armavir highway. They demand that Manvel Grigoryan be re-arrested. Previously, Grigoryan had been released on a bail of 25 million drams.

The day before, the Chief of Police of the Republic of Armenia, Valeriy Osipyan, met with some of the protesters who had blocked the Etchmiadzin-Yerevan road. The chief of police assured that “nothing extraordinary will happen.” “Manvel Grigoryan is at his villa in Akna-Lich, where police are providing round-the-clock, 24-hour service,” he said.
