Alexander Azaryan, Who Released Kocharyan, Recognized as Best Judge

In 2018, Alexander Azaryan, a judge of the Court of Appeals of Armenia, was recognized as the best judge in the country. This information was shared by Levon Sahakyan, the founder of the "HelpCourt" system.

Under the presidency of Alexander Azaryan, the Court of Appeals released former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan on August 13, overturning the decision made by the first-instance court.

Through the "HelpCourt" system, all lawyers from the Armenian Bar Association have the opportunity to evaluate judges, which is then used to create a ranking.

The highest-rated judge, Alexander Azaryan, received 86 votes. The lowest-rated judge is Vache Margaryan from the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, who received 12 negative evaluations.

It is noteworthy that both judges are directly involved in the proceedings concerning the preventive measure for Robert Kocharyan.

Alexander Azaryan was awarded the "Transparent Hand 2018" commemorative prize.
