Citizen Sues President Armen Sarkissian

According to the "Hayots Ashkharh" newspaper, it has become known that a citizen has filed a lawsuit against Armenian President Armen Sarkissian for not signing the order to renounce Armenian citizenship.

Vardan Karapetyan has submitted a relevant claim to the Administrative Court of Armenia, demanding to compel the President to accept his order to terminate his citizenship.

It should be noted that in this case, the Prime Minister of Armenia, the interagency commission on citizenship issues, the Police of Armenia, and the Ministry of Defense are also involved as respondents in the court.

It is noteworthy that the individual seeking to renounce citizenship is only 16 years old, meaning that he has just two years left until he is eligible for military conscription. This is likely the reason for the involvement of the Ministry of Defense as a respondent in the case.
