Moscow Hopes Armenia's New Leadership Will Have 'Courage': Grigory Karasin

Moscow hopes that Armenia's new leadership will have the 'courage' to resist US coercion and pressures, and that it will be independent in its decision-making. This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin in an interview with RIA Novosti.

RIA Novosti recalls that in October, John Bolton, the US National Security Advisor, visited Yerevan. During a meeting with journalists, he commented on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, stating that 'American weapons are better than Russian ones, in any case.' Bolton also advised Yerevan to 'free itself from historical stereotypes' in its international relations.

'Against the backdrop of radical changes in the country this year, Washington's interference in domestic and foreign affairs is becoming more pronounced. We hope that Armenia's current leadership, which has received the necessary mandate in the parliamentary elections, will find the courage to withstand external coercion and pressure, and will defend its sovereign right to make independent decisions.'
