Pashinyan Responds to Soldiers' Open Letter

1. September 2015 - Hasmik Sargsyan was charged with secretly stealing money, cheese, and canned goods for the purpose of illegally acquiring someone else's property. A sentence of imprisonment was set for 4 years and 3 months without property confiscation. The imposed sentence was not applied conditionally, establishing a probation period of 2 years.
2. January 2016 - Hasmik Sargsyan was charged with illegally entering the apartment of G.G. and secretly stealing a significant amount of money from the living room closet. A sentence of imprisonment was set for 4 years and 6 months without property confiscation. A probation period of 5 years was established. Thus, imprisonment was not applied this time as well.
3. Hasmik Sargsyan was charged with illegally entering the apartment of Marieta Hovhannisyan on July 4, 2017, around 3 PM, and stealing 2 pieces of 5000 dram nominal value banknotes from her wallet, causing significant property damage to Marieta Hovhannisyan.

DECISION
Recognizing Hasmik Slaviki Sargsyan guilty under Article 177, Part 3, Item 1.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia and sentencing her to imprisonment for 3 years without property confiscation. According to the provisions of Article 67 of the Criminal Code, by combining the sentences, an additional 1 year from the 4 years and 3 months imprisonment specified by the verdict of December 1, 2015, which was not served by the accused, and an additional 1 year from the 4 years and 6 months imprisonment specified by the verdict of April 29, 2016, which was not served by the accused, has been added to the imposed sentence. The final sentence for the accused H.Sargsyan is set at 5 years of imprisonment without property confiscation, which must be served in the relevant penitentiary institution of the Republic of Armenia, starting from the moment of her actual detention. The precautionary measure of signature not to leave is maintained for H.Sargsyan until the legal force of this decision comes into effect. The decision has been appealed to the RA Supreme Court, which has accepted the case for review.
It is noteworthy that the son of the woman accused of theft is a conscript soldier. He and his friends addressed an open letter to acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, asking for help.
