UPDATED: Protest Rally and Clash near the Mother See – Participants Demand the Catholicos's Resignation

The "New Armenia, New Catholicos" initiative held a protest rally in Ejmiatsin, during which two individuals were detained by the police. This was reported to NEWS.am by the police.

Participants of the "New Armenia, New Catholicos" rally are currently demonstrating in front of the police station, demanding an assessment of the actions taken against them.

Members of the "New Armenia, New Catholicos" initiative continue their demonstrations in Ejmiatsin. They are demanding the resignation of His Holiness Garegin II, the Supreme Patriarch of All Armenians. Unlike previous protests, the situation this time is quite tense, as both the demonstrators and police are on edge. A clash occurred among the rally participants, and eggs were thrown at the protesters' vehicles. Following this, the protesters left in their cars. The police formed a barrier, urging everyone to refrain from conflicts.

It should be noted that today's protest began in Yerevan, but later transitioned to a motorcade to Ejmiatsin. The participants of the rally attempted to voice their dissent near the Mother See, but a clash ensued as they approached the entrance where people had gathered.
