A Statue of Charles Aznavour to Be Erected in Moscow

In Moscow, discussions are underway regarding the selection of a location for a statue of the legendary Armenian chansonnier Charles Aznavour. According to the "Moscow Komsomolets," the singer's musical works may soon be heard at the International House of Music in Moscow, located in Zamoskvorechye, if the statue is installed in the institution's courtyard.

The city authorities are currently conducting a survey among residents to determine the most suitable place for the statue dedicated to Aznavour.

As Agasi Arabyan, the president of the Javakhk diaspora in Russia, told the publication, the idea of placing the statue in the center of the capital has received approval from the Moscow City Duma; however, a suitable location must first be selected to determine the statue's appearance. "The statue will be made of bronze. The sculpture will be funded by the Armenian community. Aznavour spent his entire childhood in a Russian environment, his parents spoke Russian, and he loved visiting Moscow. This statue will become a symbol of Russian-French, Russian-Armenian, and, in general, multinational friendship," Arabyan stated.
