Retired Nuns Embezzle Half a Million Dollars and Waste It in Casinos
The former director and teacher of St. James Catholic School in Southern California, who are retired nuns, have embezzled over $500,000 of school funds, which they squandered in Las Vegas casinos. This was reported by Dailybreeze.
It is noted that the nuns' misappropriated funds totaled approximately $500,000. The violations were uncovered during audits conducted by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
This news has been shocking for the parents of students, as they were repeatedly told that the school was "barely surviving" financially.
The nuns have expressed remorse for their actions. The school has promised to reimburse the damages and has no plans to file criminal charges against the women.
