Mher Yeghiazaryan Accused of Major Embezzlement Leaves Armenian Political Party
Mher Yeghiazaryan has announced his withdrawal from the "Armenian Eagles: United Armenia" party, stating that he is resigning from his position as deputy chairman of the party. The statement comes as the National Security Service of Armenia (NSS) accuses him of embezzlement of significant amounts of money.
In a public statement, Yeghiazaryan said, "Dear compatriots, due to the secrecy of the pre-trial investigation, I will not discuss the details of my criminal case for now. I want to inform everyone, including those I consider friends, that anyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a verdict."
He expressed gratitude to those who have supported him during this time, stating, "I thank all those who are by my side these days and who believe in me, trying to assist in bringing the truth to light. I am also thankful to those who have gone into hiding; I am very happy for that as well."
Yeghiazaryan concluded, "I hereby inform you that I am ceasing my membership in the 'Armenian Eagles: United Armenia' party and resigning from the position of deputy chairman in order not to undermine the party’s and its leadership’s reputation," as stated in his announcement.
