Atmosphere of Fear: The Armenian Revolutionary Federation Presents Materials to Observers
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports:
On December 9, early parliamentary elections will take place in Armenia, and the observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) dispatched to Armenia have been holding intensive meetings with opposition candidates in recent days. According to our information, representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) are providing European counterparts with 'materials' that could significantly damage the reputation of the Armenian authorities.
Specifically, they are presenting facts about pressure against them, efforts to intimidate people, and the establishment of an atmosphere of fear in the territories by the new authorities in relation to various actions.
The day after the elections, ODIHR will present a preliminary report on the elections, and the final report of the observation mission will be published about two months later. For instance, yesterday, they visited Murad Muradyan, the RPA candidate from the Ararat region.
"They came to my campaign headquarters in the region, sat for an hour and a half, and asked if this person is not coming to your headquarters. I said no, they are afraid. They asked how many members you have in the region, I said 4,147. Do they have tickets? I said that if they are RPA members, then they also have tickets. Yes, I told everything about this atmosphere of fear, I said that the governor intimidates everyone, and in his headquarters, they fight all day. If they did it in our camp, they would probably have gathered all of us and taken us away, they probably wouldn't let us out, but now we will see who they catch from them and what they do," said Muradyan.
