Lukashenko: The CSTO Secretary General Will Be a Belarusian Representative; Armenia Denies This

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has announced that the position of the CSTO Secretary General will be transferred to Minsk, and it will be held by a representative from Belarus.

In response to journalists' questions about whether Armenia agreed to this decision, Lukashenko stated that he cannot speak on behalf of Armenia.

He noted that the issue of appointing the Secretary General can be considered resolved. According to Lukashenko, the CSTO meeting was almost held in St. Petersburg.

It is noteworthy that this information has largely been disseminated in Belarusian media. There has been no clarification from the Russian side on this matter; however, the Armenian side has already responded.

Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's spokesperson, Arman Yeghoyan, stated that the issue of appointing the CSTO Secretary General is not yet resolved. The CSTO meeting has not taken place at all. Armenia's position on this issue remains unchanged.

It is also recalled that it was previously reported that the question of electing the CSTO Secretary General has been postponed until next year.
