Government Plans to Leave Building Leased from Aram Harutyunyan
Former Minister of Environment and current National Assembly representative from the Republican Party Aram Harutyunyan has leased his property adjacent to Republic Square in Yerevan to the government at a price lower than the market rate.
In a conversation with reporters, the chairman of the State Property Management Committee, Narek Babayan, stated that due to its needs, the government was forced to lease areas for the National Statistical Service and the Treasury from this location.
“Currently, we are trying to do everything possible to terminate that lease and accommodate state institutions at the expense of state property,” Babayan said.
Narek Babayan noted that the acquisitions of these territories are based on deals that are more than 10 years old. He did not rule out that the owners of these properties may also decide to return their assets to the state.
It should be recalled that the Prosecutor General's statement regarding the criminal case opened against Aram Harutyunyan mentioned that he owns several addresses in Yerevan, including private houses, apartments, a seven-story building adjacent to Republic Square, a restaurant complex, and a public facility at 10/1 D. Anahot Street with a cadastral value of over 427 million AMD, as well as more than a dozen agricultural plots in the Gegharkunik region’s Getamej community. His declared assets are reported to exceed one and a half million US dollars.
