8 out of 25 Agree to Be Photographed with Ashotyan: People Are Afraid
Pressures are being exerted on our supporters, who, when they are identified in the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) offices or working with RPA candidates, receive threats the same day or the next, especially if they are public employees or employees of state-funded organizations. This was stated in an interview with Aravot by the Vice President of the RPA, Armen Ashotyan, emphasizing that people are scared.
To prove how scared people are of interactions with the RPA, Ashotyan provided an example.
“A group of volunteers came to me for a meeting—about 25 people. In the final photograph, only 8 agreed to be photographed with me for Facebook. The others said, 'We will do everything, but sorry, we cannot be photographed with you.' Is this the Armenia that Nikol promised about? Is this his democratic choice? The Public Television and Radio Company is glued to Nikol's brain via Bluetooth. Before the election campaign, all editorial policies of the media were like this. Now they have put a counter, supposedly balancing it by seconds, while in terms of content, it is clear that their former media head, who is now on vacation, is in the 'My Step' alliance. The same goes for many media outlets, whose journalists are included in lists of certain parties. Is this equal opportunity?” he recounted.
