No Position in the Nakhchivan Region Has Been Advanced by the Adversary
Some political figures are again exploiting border issues during this election period.
This was stated by the press secretary of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Artsrun Hovhannisyan, on his Facebook page.
“We have noted that we will not delve into these questions. Just a short note.
a. In the Nakhchivan region, the adversary has not advanced any position at the expense of Armenian positions. No control has been gained in any area, as if control can be established by observation, then I personally published images of all the towns in the Nakhchivan region under my control.
b. The advancement of positions by both sides began in February-March, I emphasize—February-March, and not under any circumstances in any other months. Therefore, do not mix the dates of occurrences at your convenience.
c. It is still a significant question as to how many positions each side has advanced and what results have been achieved in the end.
d. Since March, the adversary has not advanced any new positions; the entire process occurred in the spring, followed by engineering works conducted by both sides.
And finally, it should be noted that it is at least unfair to be aware of the overall positional configuration of that operational direction and not to mention that the predominance of positions belongs to the Armenian side,” Hovhannisyan wrote.
It should be noted that today, in particular, David Shahnazaryan, the third member of the Republican Party's list, stated that since May, Azerbaijan has advanced its positions along the contact line with Nakhchivan. He noted that a recent statement was issued by the Ministry of Defense, which mentioned that there is an advancement of Azerbaijani positions, but in their part of the neutral zone.
