I Propose That Not Young People, But Modern Robots Go to the Front Line: Baghdasaryan
The president of the "Orinats Yerkir" party, Arthur Baghdasaryan, has posted a video on his Facebook page addressing the necessity of increasing the army's combat readiness and the steps being taken by the state.
"Today, our officers receive insignificant salaries, and decisive actions must be taken to resolve the housing issues of officers. The state should be the guarantor that the serviceman has housing, that officers in Armenia live with dignity. This is the state's duty and responsibility towards our soldiers and officers," he stated.
According to Baghdasaryan, the two-year military service should be replaced with one year, and it is modern robots, not 18-year-old youths, who should go to the front line. "They are not very expensive; the state budget is fully capable, through intelligent management, of equipping our armed forces with modern technology. How is it possible that all of Armenia can be covered with cameras, while in several areas of the border, security is still defended with rusty old cans?" he emphasized.
