No Quorum in the National Assembly: Agenda Includes Motion to Deprive Aram Harutyunyan of Liberty

Today, the National Assembly is holding its regular session, with the agenda including a motion to grant permission for the criminal prosecution of National Assembly Member Aram Harutyunyan and to deprive him of liberty. However, as expected, there is currently no quorum.

It is noted that to ensure a quorum, at least 53 members must be registered in the Assembly, but only 25 have registered at this time.

It is recalled that Aram Harutyunyan is accused of committing especially serious crimes against public service and economic activities. The Prosecutor's Office reports that the combination of evidence obtained in the criminal case provides sufficient grounds to involve National Assembly Member Aram Harutyunyan as an accused in this case, charging him with receiving a particularly large bribe under Article 311, Part 4, Subpoint 2 of the RA Criminal Code, and for the legalization of proceeds from criminal activities under Article 190, Part 3, Subpoint 1.
