Former Deputy Head of State Property Management Department Arrested
Due to the actions of officials from the State Property Management Department of the Republic of Armenia, apparent false information was entered into official documents, and as a result, the "Ani" LLC company was sold property belonging to the Water Economy State Committee of the Ministry of Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources for only 22,695,306 AMD. This included the Water Channel of Jrdzori located in the community of Amasia in Shirak Province, with an area of 1882 square meters, which was assigned to the Shirak Water Users Company for free use, along with a land plot of 0.1968 hectares necessary for its operation and maintenance, the Amasia Canal with an area of 5342 square meters, and 1.38 hectares of land for maintenance, a tunnel covering an area of 7060 square meters, as well as structures servicing the canals, which should not have been subject to alienation at all.
According to the appraisal report conducted by qualified persons on September 26, 2018, the market value of the sold property, which was sold for 22,695,305 AMD, amounts to 244,600,000 AMD, which is approximately ten times higher than the price set by the Government of Armenia.
On December 3, 2018, based on data obtained during the pre-trial investigation of the criminal case being examined by the Main Investigation Department of Especially Important Cases of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, A.M., the former deputy head of the State Property Management Department under the Government of Armenia, was arrested on suspicion of abusing official authority as provided by part 2 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code and committing official forgery as specified in part 1 of Article 314.
