Black Box of SU-25 Fighter Jet Found

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is conducting an investigation to determine the causes of the crash of an SU-25 fighter jet of the Armed Forces of Armenia, which was on a training flight. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

Preliminary data indicates that the SU-25 fighter jet, which was conducting a training flight as part of a combat readiness plan, crashed on December 4 at approximately 10:20 AM, near the village of Karaberd in the Shirak region of Armenia. As a result of the aviation accident, 1st Class pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Armen Slavik Babayan, and 3rd Class pilot, Major Movses Gevorgi Manukyan, lost their lives.

An investigative-operational group headed by Artak Krkyasharyan, Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Armenia and Head of the Military Investigative Main Department, immediately went to the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated at the 10th garrison investigative department under Article 378, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The preliminary investigation has been assigned to the Main Department of Investigation of the Military Investigative Committee of Armenia. Urgent investigation and procedural measures are being undertaken to clarify the causes of the crash, and the black box has been discovered during the examination of the crash site.

Additional information regarding the results of the investigation will be provided.
