Strong Armenia Hinders Civil Contract Campaign, Arrests Made

There are six individuals in custody and six under house arrest in connection with the "Strong Armenia" coalition hindering the election campaign of the "Civil Contract" party. This was reported to Armenia Sputnik by Kim Avdalyan, spokesperson for the RA Investigative Committee.

According to the RA Investigative Committee, based on a report received from the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a group of supporters of the "Strong Armenia" coalition, upon learning about the previously announced location of the "Civil Contract" party's campaign trail, aimed to obstruct the campaign and organized actions that disrupted the normal conduct of the party's election activities.

Specifically, a group of supporters of the "Strong Armenia" coalition blocked the road with vehicles at the beginning of the Norashen community on May 16, thereby obstructing the normal course of the "Civil Contract" party’s campaign. Additionally, on the same day, a group of supporters in the square at the beginning of Andranik Street in the Metsavan community played loud music and used violence against participants of the "Civil Contract" party, further hindering the campaign's normal flow.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 211 of the Criminal Code (obstructing the campaign by a group of individuals in other ways).
