Body of Man Arrested for Child Molestation Found

A tragic incident occurred on May 14 at the Nubarashen Penitentiary under the Ministry of Justice.

According to Shamshyan.com, around 17:40, the criminal police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs received information about a body hanging in one of the cells of the Nubarashen prison. The operational staff of the penitentiary service arrived at the scene, where it was confirmed that the information was accurate. Preliminary reports indicate that the individual had hanged himself in an apparent suicide.

The penitentiary service notified the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, which dispatched an investigative team led by the head of the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts’ investigative department, Roman Mahmoudyan, along with the on-duty investigator.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident in the Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts’ investigative department. According to sources, the arrested individual, identified as Mher Gh., was charged under Article 198, Part 4 of the RA Criminal Code (engaging in a violent sexual act against a vulnerable person due to familial status or disability).
