Russia's Foreign Ministry Sends Stern Message to Yerevan: EEU and EU are Incompatible

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin has deemed Yerevan's attempts to combine membership in the EEU with integration into the EU unacceptable, stating that "it is impossible to dance at two weddings at the same time." He accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of launching an anti-Russian campaign amid the backdrop of upcoming elections in the region.

Galuzin emphasized that Armenia cannot simultaneously be a part of both the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the European Union (EU), reiterating the incompatibility of the two alliances. This statement was made following a meeting of the special group of the Russian Security Council regarding cooperation with neighboring countries.

During talks with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on April 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin remarked that it is fundamentally impossible to be a member of both the Customs Unions of the EU and the EEU.
