Russia Closes Doors to Armenian Producers: Papoyan on Moscow's New Decision
We have not received an official letter from the Russian Federation regarding the temporary export ban on flowers from Armenia, which is why I cannot comment on it,” said Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan during a press briefing after the government meeting.
According to the minister, specialists from Rosselkhoznadzor have arrived in Armenia to conduct investigations in specific companies. These are the companies that have been banned from entering Russia, and if a positive conclusion is reached, the export opportunities will open for them.
"I believe these are current working situations; of course, I do not rule out that there are certain forces in Armenia trying to create situations that put Armenian producers in difficulties in Russia. We regularly receive such information. But we are also able to solve these problems simultaneously," explained the minister, pointing to the cases of Wildberries and Ozon, whose issues have been resolved, according to Papoyan.
Gevorg Papoyan assured that the situation is manageable and that active work is underway with Russian partners, indicating that, overall, we should not encounter problems.
It should be noted that the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor, will introduce temporary restrictions on the import of flowers from Armenia starting from May 22, 2026.
“Starting from May 22, 2026, Rosselkhoznadzor will impose temporary restrictions on the import of floral products from and originating in Armenia until the completion of the inspection of greenhouse economies and the summarization of the results of the analysis,” stated the announcement released by the agency.
