New Wave of Phishing: Ministry of Internal Affairs Calls for Vigilance
The Cybercrime Division of the Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has effectively restricted access to certain phishing domains in collaboration with Armenian mobile operators, as well as phishing SMS messages sent using the international codes +63 and +212.
The Ministry stated: "Considering that criminals are constantly seeking new ways to circumvent security measures, the risk of receiving similar dangerous messages via iMessage and RCS (internet-based messaging systems) still exists. Since these platforms bypass traditional mobile network SMS filters, they continue to be actively used by fraudsters."
They urged the public to:
- Do not respond to iMessage or RCS messages from unknown international numbers.
- Avoid clicking on suspicious links provided in those messages.
- Do not provide personal information or banking card verification details.
- Immediately block (Block) and report as spam (Report Junk/Spam) any addresses or phone numbers that send such messages directly through your mobile device's application.
