The Region is Facing a Volatile Situation: Zakharova

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has stated that the attacks against Iran conducted by the United States and Israel were premeditated. According to the diplomat, Washington and Tel Aviv carried out the operations according to a coordinated scenario, which served the interests of both countries.

Speaking on the air of Radio Sputnik, Zakharova noted that just one week after the start of military operations, due to manipulations in the information sphere, public perception changed. As a result, Iran shifted from being a target to becoming the aggressor. According to the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a portrayal was created in the media suggesting that Tehran was the initiator of the aggression.

It is worth recalling that the armed forces of the United States and Israel began targeting various facilities within Iran starting from February 28. Despite both Washington and Tehran announcing a ceasefire on April 8, regional tension has not subsided. The United States has initiated a blockade of Iranian ports, while Iran has, in turn, established special regulations for transit shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
