Changes in Citizens' Service at Border Checkpoints

Changes in Citizens' Service at Border Checkpoints

On May 19, a working discussion was held under the leadership of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The discussion included the participation of the head of the Migration and Citizenship Service, Nelli Davtyan, the chair of the Commission on Information Systems Regulation, Nerses Yeritsyan, and representatives from partner agencies.

Topics discussed included the possibilities for implementing the e-gate system at border checkpoints, along with technical and operational components.

It was emphasized that the e-gate system would enable the automation of border control processes, reduce the time citizens spend at checkpoints, and improve identification mechanisms.

The system will allow for automatic biometric identification. The maintenance and software of the system were also addressed.

Key points included the importance of implementing data processing, risk assessment, and management mechanisms for the effective operation of the system, which would expedite border control procedures.

The strengthening of inter-agency cooperation and the application of international experience in border management were highlighted as crucial strategies.

Agreement was reached to continue work on the implementation of the system.
