Strong Armenia Files Lawsuit Against Public Television

The "Strong Armenia" party has filed a lawsuit against the Public Television of Armenia. According to the party, the television station has disseminated defamatory information by indicating in its news release that the united opposition candidate is Robert Kocharyan. This was reported by "Hetq".

Specifically, according to the lawsuit, the defamation occurred during the broadcast of the "Sunday News" program on May 3, 2026, at 21:00 on the First Informational Channel.

The "Strong Armenia" party demands that the Public Television Company of Armenia publicly refute the defamatory information under the title "The Public Television has defamed the Strong Armenia party" immediately after the court ruling affirming the lawsuit comes into legal effect. The intended content for the refutation is as follows: "On May 3, 2026, at 21:00 during the broadcast of the 'Sunday News' program, false information was published regarding the united opposition's candidate for prime minister being Kocharyan. We state that this is not true and the candidate for prime minister of the Strong Armenia party is its president, Samvel Karapetyan."

It should be noted that the lawsuit was filed in court yesterday, on May 15, 2026, and the issue of accepting it for review has yet to be decided. The case has been assigned to Judge Gohar Grigoryan.
