US and China: Cooperation or Temporary Agreement?

Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Trump held a face-to-face meeting at the Zhongnanhai residence in downtown Beijing. Trump stated that the US has made "fantastic trade agreements" with China.

The US President referred to the Chinese President as his friend, noting that they have known each other for nearly 12 years and that he has "great respect" for the Chinese leader.

The leaders discussed the situation surrounding Iran. Trump declared that the US and China have "very similar views" on the matter and that both sides are interested in keeping maritime straits open and ensuring the stability of oil supplies.

China's Foreign Ministry has urged the US and Iran to quickly pursue diplomatic routes and resolve the conflict.

In Beijing, it is believed that the meeting has promoted cooperation between the US and China and "contributed to global stability."
