Mercedes-Benz Closes an Era: All Showrooms in Berlin Put Up for Sale

Mercedes-Benz is set to sell all seven of its branches located in Berlin, including the central "Mercedes-Welt" showroom in the capital. This deal is part of a broader strategy by the company to divest a total of 82 sales centers throughout Germany.

The change directly impacts around 8,000 employees, 1,500 of whom are based in Berlin. Staff members have already been informed about the impending changes from ownership. The company has offered its employees two options: to receive a one-time compensation of approximately €30,000 or to retain their positions for a year.

After the specified period, contracts with Mercedes-Benz will be terminated, and employment terms with the new owner may be renegotiated. This process is a key phase in the "Sales of the Future" reorganization program, which aims to move away from traditional dealership networks and transition to a centralized and digitized sales management model.

The likely buyer for the Berlin branches is Canadian businessman Kuldeep Billan's holding, which already manages over 150 showrooms across North America and Europe, collaborating with brands such as Audi, BMW, and Toyota.
