The Number of Hantavirus Cases has Increased: WHO
Eleven passengers aboard the MV Hondius have tested positive for hantavirus, with nine of those cases confirmed as the Andes hantavirus. The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has reported that there are currently 11 documented cases of the disease, including three fatalities.
All infected individuals have been identified. Of the reported 11 cases, nine have been confirmed as the Andes virus, while the remaining two are being investigated as potential cases. It is noteworthy that previously, there were reports of nine hantavirus infection cases.
