“Armenia is not taking any steps against Russia; rather, it is securing its political direction,” said Alen Simonian in a conversation with journalists.

“Let’s choose: either we live on our knees under someone’s boot, whether it be Russia, France, or another great power, or we stand up for our country,” Simonian continued.

“We have previously been on our knees because our presidential elections were marred by fraud; the CEC announced results without declaring them, and Russia has already congratulated us and appointed a 'governor,' while the majority of our security forces have been established in concert with that country. Our entire political trajectory has been coordinated and run parallel,” Simonian stated, noting that we had no independence until 2018.
