Deaths on Board Due to ‘Hantavirus’
Last week, a cruise ship drew the attention of international health authorities after reports emerged of three passenger deaths. It turns out there has been an outbreak of hantavirus on board, leading to these fatalities. Initially, a decision was made to prevent passengers and crew from leaving the ship. Today, Euronews reports that two ill individuals from the cruise are being evacuated to the Netherlands.
Following the evacuation, the ‘MV Hondius’ will set course for the Canary Islands. This virus is transmitted by rodents. Authorities have stated that a comprehensive set of measures is being implemented to identify and inform all individuals subject to epidemiological screening.
