Mobile Connectivity in Moscow to be Limited for Several Days

Temporary restrictions on mobile internet and SMS messaging are set to be implemented in Moscow from May 5 to May 9. Residents of the city are receiving notifications from service providers regarding the upcoming limitations, which are attributed to the preparation for festive events and security measures.

The telecom company "Beeline" has confirmed this information, advising subscribers to utilize Wi-Fi and activate the VoLTE feature for voice calls. According to industry sources, this year's restrictions are expected to be more significant than last year's and will cover the entirety of the Moscow Ring Road (MKAD).

Such disconnections were first applied in Moscow a year ago, after which the experience was adopted throughout Russia to combat drone attacks. State Duma deputy Andrei Svintsov added that limitations may also extend to wired internet.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, this year's Victory Day parade will take place without military equipment, marking the first time since 2007. Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov noted that the reduced format is due to the operational situation and threats stemming from Kyiv. In recent days, drone attacks have been recorded in Moscow, one of which damaged a residential building located 6 kilometers away from the Kremlin.
