Azerbaijan Suspends Cooperation with the European Parliament in All Areas

The Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan has decided to suspend cooperation with the European Parliament and initiate the process of withdrawing from the "Euronews" Parliamentary Assembly.

The Azerbaijani parliament has resolved to halt collaboration with the European Parliament in all directions. In particular, participation in the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee is being suspended, and the official procedure for exiting the "Euronews" Parliamentary Assembly is being started.

Prior to this decision, the Ambassador of the European Union to Baku, Mariana Kucuyuncu, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan. A protest note was handed to her regarding the resolution adopted by the European Parliament on April 30.

The Azerbaijani foreign ministry claims that the positions of the European Parliament negatively affect the regional normalization process as well as the future prospects of relations between Azerbaijan and the EU.
