Statement from the Investigative Committee Regarding the 'Strong Armenia' Party
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has published a statement as part of an ongoing criminal investigation in Yerevan. The collected evidence, alongside operational-search measures conducted with the National Police, has revealed that V.A., a member of the council of the Gyulagarak community and included in the electoral list of the 'Strong Armenia' party, aided in actions led by the party's leadership or individuals acting on its behalf, aimed at materially incentivizing several individuals to participate in a rally.
Specifically, in preparation for a rally in support of the 'Strong Armenia' party scheduled for April 11, 2026, in Yerevan, individuals acting on behalf of the party’s leadership sought to ensure the participation of several residents from the Lori region by financially incentivizing them. Each of these residents was promised 3000 AMD to compel their attendance at the organized event.
V.A., being aware of these criminal activities in advance, provided advice, resources, and facilitated the removal of obstacles, thereby assisting individuals acting on behalf of the party's leadership. This included coordinating the recruitment of Lori region residents, their transportation to Yerevan, provision of food, and distribution of promised funds, thus furthering the commission of the crime.
A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against V.A. under part 2 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code (assisting in materially incentivizing participation in a rally). As a precautionary measure, he has been placed under house arrest and is prohibited from leaving the premises. The investigation is ongoing.
