Sale of New Batches of 'Jermuk' Mineral Water Prohibited in Russia
The Russian consumer rights protection authority has ordered the withdrawal of an additional 1.1 million bottles of product from circulation. Based on the directive from 'Rospotrebnadzor,' the Russian 'Chestny Znak' labeling system has suspended the sale of a large batch of 'Jermuk' mineral water imported from Armenia. The restrictions apply to products manufactured between October 23, 2025, and March 27, 2026.
The basis for the sales ban was violations of technical regulations identified during inspections. According to laboratory tests, some batches contained sulfates, chlorides, and bicarbonates above permissible limits. This discrepancy caused a mismatch between the information on the label and the requirements of the EAEU technical regulation. The Russian side claims that such deviations may mislead consumers and pose potential health risks.
Following previous restrictions, the total volume of 'Jermuk' mineral water withdrawn from sale in Russia is now approximately 1.4 million bottles. According to operators of the digital labeling system, the ban is in effect throughout the country and will remain until additional inspections are completed. The product will return to the market only if the necessary approvals are obtained.
It should be noted that earlier, the Russian 'Chestny Znak' labeling state system had suspended the sale of 'Jermuk' mineral water batches in both offline and online stores.
