Yerevan to Become 'The Beating Heart of Europe': French Foreign Minister

The opening of the new embassy is a crucial diplomatic mission that represents the state, protects its citizens, and develops bilateral relations in all areas. According to the French Foreign Minister, the embassy serves as a bridge between the two peoples, where people learn to understand each other and share cultural values.

Jean-Noël Bréhon expressed confidence that this new center will become a vibrant place for exchanges between France and Armenia. The Minister announced that in a few days, the French President will make a state visit to Armenia, which will symbolize the exceptional strengthening of ties between the two countries.

He noted that Yerevan will become 'The Beating Heart of Europe,' hosting the European Political Community and the first Armenia-EU summit. These events reflect the common determination of both countries for the future.

Brehon emphasized Armenia's brave commitment to peace with Azerbaijan, which opens new horizons for security and prosperity in the South Caucasus. France welcomes this step against the backdrop of ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Addressing historical memory, the Minister mentioned that just days after the Armenian Genocide Memorial Day, France honors the memory of the victims, which is a matter of universal conscience. He recalled the rescue of 4,000 Armenians from Musa Dagh by Admiral Darlan in 1915, and the courage of Missak and Mélina Manouchian, who now rest in the Panthéon.

The new embassy building is also connected to France's history; it was home to President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing for over 60 years. In 2026, the centenary of his birth will be commemorated, and Brehon paid tribute to the former president, a champion of European values. He expressed hopes that this house and garden would become a home for Armenia in Paris and a symbol of friendship between the two countries.
