U.S. President Donald Trump stated in an interview with Axios that the maritime blockade against Iran will continue until a new nuclear agreement is reached. He declared that the blockade is proving to be more effective than airstrikes. According to him, the Iranian side is 'suffocating' and is unable to develop nuclear weapons.

“They are suffocating like stuffed pigs. And it’s only going to get worse for them... They don’t want me to maintain the blockade. I do not want to lift it because I do not want them to have nuclear weapons,” Trump remarked.
