Avanesyan on Revising Universal Health Insurance Premium

Avanesyan on Revising Universal Health Insurance Premium

The Ministry of Health has no plans to revise the health insurance premium designated for universal health insurance in 2027. This was stated by Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan.

“During the budget discussions for 2027, we will discuss the government subsidy portion. As you know, the state mostly subsidizes insurance premiums today. For individuals under 18 years old, those aged 65 and above, and people with disabilities or those classified as socially disadvantaged, the government pays 129,600 AMD annually for each individual. Additionally, for employees and those paying insurance premiums, the government also provides a monthly subsidy of 6,000 AMD,” Avanesyan said.

The minister added that the continuation of this subsidy for 2027 has already been confirmed through mid-term spending programs, but there is still room for discussions in the 2027 budget. Anahit Avanesyan introduced the general principle for revising the insurance premium.

“Every year, the Minister of Health must present a report on the previous year's work in the National Assembly and provide a conclusion regarding the insurance premium for the next year—whether it should be revised or not. At this moment, we have no initiative to revise the 2027 insurance premium,” the minister noted.
