VIDEO: What the New Biometric Passports and ID Cards Will Look Like
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, presented the details of the biometric passport system implementation to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
"We are entering the final phase of the implementation of the biometric passport system in Armenia, and I want to showcase today what we have not shown and what we have not talked about," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated. "New samples of biometric passports and biometric ID cards will be available and in circulation starting in the autumn of 2026," he added while displaying the appearance of the new biometric passports and ID cards.
"The first change is the color change. We decided that the biometric passport will have a red hue, which, according to our research, is one of the most widely used colors internationally. On the first page of the passport, there will be a silhouetted map of Armenia on the left side, and on the right side, there will be the emblem of the Republic of Armenia along with certain text information. The new biometric passport reflects our identity, historical and cultural heritage, and statehood," said Pashinyan. More details can be seen in the video.
