Clarification on the Ban of 'Jermuk' Mineral Water Sales

The ban on the sale of individual batches of 'Jermuk' mineral water is not a serious issue for Armenian producers. This was stated by Gennadi Oniščenko, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education, during a television bridge at the Sputnik international multimedia center.

According to him, his previous experience as head of 'Rospotrebnadzor' has shown that such cases are not uncommon; generally, it is not the entire product that is banned, but rather the sale of specific batches. Such measures are also applied to products from other countries. For instance, recently the import of dairy products from a Belarusian company was restricted due to excess residual content of a veterinary drug.

Oniščenko noted that in the case of 'Jermuk', it is likely related to a violation of the bottling technology, which could have resulted in the presence of non-characteristic substances in a specific batch produced.

'There is nothing terrible here. One batch has been seized, but 'Jermuk' remains on the market,' the expert added.
